Tonotechnie is a software art package for audiovisual installation and multimedia live electronics. The name is derived from the treatise of Joseph Engramelle (1775); it indicates one of the first mechanical method of notating music.
Tonotechnie 1.0 was commissioned in 2007 by the municipal cultural department of Sant’Agata Li Battiati (Catania, Italy). It has also been performed in Copenhagen, Re:New 08, Digital Arts Forum, and Atene, Center for Music Composition and Performance (CMCP), ElectroMediaWorks 08.
